About us

Our story & mission

A volunteer-led community organization built on an old Ethiopian truth: we are stronger together.

Who we are

Neighbors helping neighbors

Felege Ghion Ethiopian Community Support began the way many of our traditions do — with families gathering over coffee, noticing who needed a hand, and deciding to do something about it.

Today we are a network of volunteers, elders, professionals and young people who share one goal: that no Ethiopian family in our area faces a challenge alone. We welcome everyone, regardless of region, faith or language.

Mission

Why we exist

To support Ethiopian individuals and families through practical help, compassionate care and cultural connection — strengthening our community and helping every member thrive in their new home.

Vision

Where we're going

A united, self-reliant community where every family feels supported, every elder is honored, every young person is empowered, and our heritage flows on to the generations that follow.

Our values

What guides us

01

Unity — አንድነት

We serve all members of the community equally, setting aside differences of region, faith and politics.

02

Compassion

We meet people where they are, with dignity, respect and confidentiality.

03

Heritage

We honor our elders, our languages and our traditions, and share them proudly with our children.

04

Service

We give our time freely. Every member has something to offer, and every contribution matters.

05

Transparency

We are accountable to our members for how decisions are made and how every dollar is used.

06

Empowerment

We help people build the skills and connections to stand on their own — and then lift up others.
